Crime does pay?

A few weeks ago we were out geocaching, and we came across what looked
like a reasonable bike, seemingly dumped on a footpath through a wood.
As we walked on out we mithered about why it was there, had someone
absconded or eloped and rendezvous with a partner in crime, had it been
nicked and dumped by a drunken yob one Saturday night, or had someone
gone fishing and left it there till their return.

Anyway on our return leg, the bike was still there and with no obvious
signs of any one around , we did the only think you could do. We nicked
it! Ok, well not quite. We handed in the bike to the local police
station and 6 weeks later no one had claimed it so it came home with us.

£30 later, its been serviced and had new brakes and tyres, and I’ve just
given it, it’s inaugural test drive. Gears a bit cranky, not sure if its
poor chain movement or they are on their way out, but otherwise its
quite good. as it will allow me to go on bike rides with the kids its
got to be all good.
